Finally, a book for teaching math that truly integrates writing and reading! Carroll & Wood have developed math lessons that emerge from children’s books and that align with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Grade Bands and correlate to the Texas TEKS. Dr. JAC’s Math, Reading, Writing Connections PreK-8 holds lessons that move from the concrete to the abstract and those lessons pop.

Further, each math, reading, writing connection lesson is followed by deeper math lessons and a publishing idea. Fifty-five children’s books cover everything from number sense to the Pythagorean theorem, from money to multiplying, from geometry to measurement, from polygons to problem solving and everything in between.

Additional enrichment includes several young adult novels that deal with math, the “Small Books, Big Ideas” series, and a couple of adult books related to math. Pairing up with math expert Amy Wood, Joyce Armstrong Carroll, has once again placed her intellect on the pulse of what busy teachers need. This book is a resource everyone who teaches math from PreK to 8th grade will want to keep handy.
